Goodness it's already the end of the first week of October. It's crazy how fast time goes by when one is busy.
Well here are my highlights of September:
Coming to Yale (duh.) :D
Camp Yale, moving in, living in Vanderbilt aka the Castle of Old Campus
Fall Retreat (a much needed weekend away from Yale. I came back with a whole lot of love and confidence. I'm not alone and He will never forsake me.)
Meeting a lot of cool people.
Getting care packages from home, the Thompson's, College&Career, and postcards from friends.
Tae Kwon Do
Getting a job at New Haven Reads
Getting a scooter!!
Shopping with Bo :)
lowlights:
missing home, family, friends, CA weather, Asian food
not getting tapped for Living Water
tests. awful!
So here I am on a random Thursday blogging. I got a Razor scooter for 30 bucks at Target, which happens to be a 40 minute bus ride away. It's quite handy. I love riding it down Science Hill. and it gets me to English on time, and it's so much less expensive than a bike! :) and Winnie says it's cool how I hang it on the side of my backpack :) yeah!
I've been getting better at seeking God this week. I try to read a Psalms before I go to class each day and so far, so good. I'm getting used to this schedule, so that's good. But I'm still not getting enough sleep, so I'll have to work on that.
Yesterday, before work, I sat in the park next to New Haven Reads and was able to be still and quiet for the first time this week. It was so peaceful and so good. I'm also currently reading Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis. FINALLY. I've been praying for the time to read it. And I only recently got the book. I didn't want to buy it because I didn't want to spend money. But lo and behold, the Lord provides... YSC had a book stand one day, and there it was - my own copy of Mere Christianity. yay :)
I'm really excited that Jodi Picoult is coming this weekend! I still can't believe that her son is in my English class. It's amazing. Kyle is so adorable!! and I love talking and spending time with him.
And yesterday, I listened to Jimmy Wales, the founder of Wikipedia talk about his websites and the new free culture. It was interesting to say the least.
I got my first paper back today and I must say, I'm not too happy with it. But not overly sad either. It'll get better, I promise myself.
And, I couldn't help it. I keep picking up random books from New Haven Reads and reading them on the way to dinner. I guess these are what Mrs. Lyon would call "trashy" novels. But sometimes, a girl just needs a romantic novel, with no substance. It's enjoyable. I must be careful though for they may breed unwanted fantasies ahaha! And, I might hit a pole with my nose stuck in a book while walking down the streets of New Haven.
Tae Kwon Do is great! It's a great workout and my kicks are getting better. I still haven't figured out how to move my hips correctly to turn, but I'm working on it. Hopefully my ankle braces come soon because they really hurt and I hope I'm not working them too hard.
I love my friends.
Well, I'm off to do my Chemistry Problem Set.

oh my goodness xtina, it's so good to read this!
ReplyDeletea) i can really relate to a lot of it, like the need for a pick-me-up romance story, and the potential dangers of fantasy world. :P
b) there's just so much hope in what you write.. even though clearly life hasn't been all peaches and roses lately.
love you,
bui
p.s. sorry i'm terrible at getting back to you, we'll find time for a meal soon i promise! <3
